Registration determines which courses will be offered for the next school year. Students will be held accountable for their choices. Please be sure to select courses that are relevant to your projected career goals. Whether you think you will be seeking employment upon graduation or whether you think you will pursue a college education, you need to select those classes which will help you to achieve your goals. Please remember, if the classes you select during registration are offered, you will be scheduled for those classes barring any conflicts in scheduling. Be sure to complete your registration form in a timely manner. Follow the procedure as outlined below:
CLASS CHANGE POLICIES
The master schedule will be determined by student choices. Student choices will determine the kinds of classes we will be offering next school year. All students will, therefore, be held responsible for their course selections and will be allowed to make changes only under the following special circumstances:
Promotion and retention of secondary students is based on the number of credits earned. All credits applied for promotion must be received by the beginning of the school year. Credits received after the school year starts will be applied toward the following school vear. Students taking summer/correspondence credits need to get all transcripts to the registrar by August 1st for promotion to the next grade level. Please refer to the following scale, which is used throughout Hawaii's public schools for grade level placement:
Freshman 0.0 - 4.5
Sophomore 5.0 - 10.5
Junior 11.0 - 16.5
Senior 17.0 or more
Classes may be closed or cancelled depending on enrollment. Once a class section is filled with a maximum number of students it will be closed. Classes may be canceled if enrollment does not reach a set limit. Students may be removed from an overfilled class in the following manner:
Students will not be moved from a class they need and will not have an opportunity to take at a later time.

Grade 9: English 1, Modern History of Hawaii/Participation in Democracy (civics)
Grade 10: English 2, U.S. History
Grade 11: English 3, World History
Grade 12: English 4, Social Studies Elective
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
P. E. II/II: Recommended for 9th or 10th grade year.
Career Guidance/Health: Recommended for 9th or 10th grade year.
Science: Only one agriculture science course may count towards fulfillment of science graduation requirements.
Elective Courses: Check "Graduating with Honors" if you are going to earn a BOE diploma (recommended for college entrance).
In order to graduate cum laude, magna cum laude or summa cum laude, students must meet the following requirements in grades 9-12:
To graduate cum laude you must meet all of the above requirements and earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 - 3.5. To graduate magna cum laude you must meet all of the above requirements and earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5+ - 3.8. To graduate summa cum laude you must meet all of the above requirements and earn a cumulative GPA of 3.8+. Calculation of cumulative GPA for graduation honors purposes will be based on the first seven semesters (the final semester of the 12th grade year will not be included in this calculation). All marks a student earns will be included in calculation of the grade point average. Valedictorians: Any student with a cumulative 4.000 GPA after the first seven semesters will be named Valedictorian.
